While it would be nicer and easier to rest assured believing that the
Government has everyone’s best interest in mind; it would also be
foolish to think that way, especially for women. The Obama
Administration recently held a town hall meeting on health care and its
effects on women. The disappointing truth is that very little real
information was given and it was primarily emotion that seemed to be the
focus. While women generally do have a greater response to emotion then
men, the Obama Administration should not think that women do not also
realize the very real consequences that Obamacare will have on this
nation and their families. So what are some negative consequences
Obamacare will have on health insurance Ohio and coverage in other states across the country?

One
major point to realize is that, as we have heard before, nothing is
free. Yes, that also means that the “free” preventative services will be
paid for. And not just paid for – paid for by us. Most likely insurers
and employers will not pick up those costs and thus the consumer will
have no choice but to pay them by means of heftier premiums. The
Government is giving the job that used to belong to doctors and their
patients to the employers and insurers. There is a good chance that
before long the insurer and employers will only cover necessary
services, leaving the rest up to us.

Another problem for women and men with Ohio health insurance
is that premiums are kept at an artificially low rate for middle-aged
adults and consequently at a high rate for younger adults. The estimate
may be as much as 45 percent more for premium payments for those between
18-24 and 35 percent more for ages 25-29. That means that rates are
higher for those just beginning their careers and trying to establish
themselves and their families and lower for those already established.
This is certainly something to be concerned about.

American Women
also need to be aware of the government’s vision to create a life-long
plan for them. As shown in “The Life of Julia”, the plan truly is to
give the Secretary of HHS more authority and the government a greater
role as well. This all means less of a voice for Americans, particularly
American Women, and more trust in Government. In fact under Obamacare
by 2020, over half of Americans would be using government insurance.

Finally,
a very crucial thing to consider, whether you are religious or not, is
how Obamacare threatens to violate of our First Amendment right to
freedom of religion.   While it does not require Churches to participate
in the coverage of contraceptives, abortion-causing drugs, and
sterilization, it does require other religious institutions to
monetarily assist in the provision the drugs and services. These
hospitals, charities, and school are being forced to assist in something
they are directly opposed to and cannot in good conscience carry out.
Americans everywhere would do well to remember that it was first our
religious freedom that our founders sought and fought for. We should
always remember and honor the price of that freedom and the struggle it
has always been to be “the land of the free.”
