One of the most obvious of these is that you tend to have time to settle in to a new home. You may, for instance, take a few days off work following your home move. That gives you time to unpack your belongings, to get things straight and to get your bearings. Unfortunately, you don’t tend to have those luxuries when carrying out an office move.
The problem with the latter is that customers expect a consistent level of service. They want to know that the process will be seamless and that they won’t encounter problems. What this means is that everything has to go according to plan. Hopefully, you will already have thought about putting a suitable plan in place.
You’ll also need to think about the issue of communicating with others. Colleagues, customers and suppliers will all want to know what is going on and whether there will be an impact. They’ll have a lot more confidence if they are clear on the plans. It’s clearly vital that they should also have confidence in your own abilities during this important process.
What all of this means is that the office move needs to be treated seriously. In fact, it needs to be treated in the same way that you might approach a project for an external client. This certainly means making time to ensure that everything goes smoothly. It also involves ensuring that there is clarity in place, so that it’s known who is responsible for each task.
The aim should be to make sure that everyone involved in the process is happy with the end result. You won’t want to lose customers, or leave employees feeling concerned. The best way to avoid such problems is to plan in advance.
