Voodoo love spells are one of the most popular forms of magick, since it’s displayed in movies and TV series, where characters insert pins to a doll to affect another character. In reality, it’s not that different. Here’s how to cast basic voodoo love spells.

Doll

You will need 2 dolls, one to represent the person of your desire and another to represent you. They can be made by you with some fabric and stuffing such as cotton or can be bought. Some people try to make them resemble the persons that they represent in voodoo doll spells, but I’ve had success even if they resemble cartoon characters.

Magickal link

You will need something that is linked to the person of your desire and something that is linked to you. Many people use a lock of hair or nail clippings since they consider them stronger magickal links and think they’ll get better results. If you’ve studied magick for a while, you know it’s you who create the link and works the magick. The materials are only symbols to assist you. A lock of hair or nail clippings are difficult to get and you can get in a lot of trouble if you are seen collecting them. You’ll get the exact same results using full names and birth dates. Write them out on a piece of paper and tape it to the dolls. You can also use photos.

Trance state

Voodoo love spells require that you enter a trance state. This may sound difficult but it’s very easy. Your brain produces frequencies depending on your mood that are known as brainwaves. There are many types of trance states but we’ll use deep relaxation to switch your brainwaves to alpha or tetha which allows you to affect others with your thoughts. Focus on the parts of your body one by one, taking away all tension until you start to feel rested and renewed.

Charm

Create a charm that describes the goal of your voodoo magic. For example, “love me with all your heart, so that we’ll never be apart.” It doesn’t need to rhyme. You can use a directive instead, such as “love me twice more than I love you.” You may feel tempted to make the person love you 1,000 times more than you love her but she won’t likely leave you alone for a moment. I once had to use voodoo doll spells to calm love in someone.

Romantic Scenes

Manipulate the dolls as if they were kissing and expressing their feelings to each other. You don’t want to make them act as if they were having a walk in the park. Focus on the results you want, not on how you’ll get there. Create a few different scenes.

When you’re done, put away the dolls. Some voodoo magic requires you to bury them but there’s no need for that in this case. Simply take off the piece of paper with your full names and birth dates or photos from the dolls. You can throw them away or keep them but don’t reuse them in other voodoo love spells. These are just their basics and there’s a lot more to them.

Three messages that astounded me

At a recent show, where I was delivering messages from spirit to an audience of several people eagerly looking at me and hoping to hear from a friends in the afterlife, I had the impression of two peas in a pod.

At a recent show, where I was delivering messages from spirit to an audience of several people eagerly looking at me and hoping to hear from a friends in the afterlife, I had the impression of two peas in a pod.

At a recent event, where I was delivering messages from spirit to an audience of several hundred people eagerly looking at me and hoping to hear from a friend or loved one in the afterlife, I had the impression of two peas in a pod. This mental image suddenly changed into two fetuses… and then one melted away, leaving one embryo in the womb.

I concentrated a moment, whispered a quick blessing for the departed child, then said, “I feel the presence of a child who died in utero. He was one of a twin, and I feel his surviving brother is here in the audience. Can anyone take this?”

A deep silence filled the air. Then a hesitant hand went up from a man sitting in the tenth row. “There are three sets of twins in my family,” he said quietly. “I was supposed to be part of the fourth, but my brother didn’t make it.”

“Thank you,” I said, both to the man and to the spirit coming forward. I gave the man some personal details about his life, which he understood, then finished with, “Your brother is telling me that he walks with you all the time. And when it’s time for you to go home – and that won’t be for quite awhile – he’ll meet you on the other side.”

I took a deep breath to clear myself, then asked spirit to come through again. Suddenly, I felt a weight of sorrow on my shoulders, and a sharp chest pain. I looked at the people and spoke to the impressions I was now getting.

“A man is talking to me about a gunshot wound,” I said. “He’s telling me his wife is in the audience. He left behind a child – no, I’m sorry, I’m being corrected. The child hasn’t been born yet. It’s going to be a boy.”

I described the man, and a woman raised her hand. “That’s my husband,” she said, fighting back tears. “He was killed in a holdup last month.” Then she confirmed that an amniocentesis had revealed the child was male.

“He’s telling me that he’ll be there at the birth of your child,” I said. “And he’ll continue to watch over the two of you from the spirit world.”

Thank you, the woman mouthed as she wiped her eyes. I took another breath to centre myself, then felt the next spirit presence. It had perhaps the most satisfying message I delivered that day. It was the words of a boy who had passed when he was eight years old. Being a parent, I have no idea of what it would be like to lose a child, and those kinds of messages always leave me with an ache in my heart.

I described the boy to the audience, and the sensation I was feeling of how he had died. “He wants his parents to know that he’s alright now,” I said. “He’s sitting on the floor playing with a little red fire engine. He says that’s his favourite toy.”

The parents acknowledged my words with nods and gentle smiles. Afterward, they approached me to say that one day, a fireman had given the boy a special ride in an engine, and his favourite toy was indeed a shiny red fire truck. “In fact,” the father said, “it’s sitting on top of his dresser in his room.”

What made my day was when the father said that before this afternoon, he hadn’t believed in the afterlife. “Thank you,” he said. And as the couple walked awayFree Articles, I thanked spirit for allowing me to deliver those healing words.

The instagram psychic scam

I received a telephone call a few days ago from a woman who fell prey to a psychic scammer. My blood boils when I hear about phoney psychics inventing new ways to cheat people.

I received a telephone call a few days ago from a distraught woman who fell prey to a psychic scammer. My blood boils whenever I hear about phoney psychics inventing new ways to cheat people. So, here’s lesson number one – never let a psychic or medium choose you. You must choose to consult a medium or a psychic.

Claire (not her real name) told me she received an intriguing message from a “psychic” through her Instagram account. The bogus intuitive sent Claire an email saying said she had seen Claire’s Instagram picture and felt such “strong vibes,” she had to contact her.

The fraud said she felt Claire was surrounded by negative energy, and if she wanted to rid herself of this negativity, she needed to buy “special” crystals for $200. The crystals, the “psychic” said, would help her determine what was wrong about Claire’s picture. Claire ordered the crystals.

(Lesson number two – never buy anything to prepare for a professional reading. An honest psychic/medium will charge you for a session, and that’s it!)

During the next phone call, the shameful shaman told Claire that after examining her picture, she discovered that someone had put a curse on her because the person wanted Claire to be unhappy. However – if Claire bought “special” candles for $500, the psychic could begin “trying” to remove the curse. Unfortunately, Claire was scared into believing she needed help. She didn’t have the money readily available, and charged the purchase on her Visa.

(Lesson three – never give your credit card information over the phone!! Reputable workers use services like PayPal, or insist that clients make e-transfers through a bank.)

The scammer told Claire it would take a year to remove the curse, and she needed to pay $250 a week to ensure that the anti-curse kept working. When Claire said she didn’t have the money, the phoney said she’d help Claire out by arranging a convenient payment plan.

At that point, Claire got wise. She asked a friend who’d visited psychic mediums in the past, and gave Claire my phone number. Claire called in tears and after hearing her story, I gnashed my teeth so hard, I could’ve bitten though steel.

“I feel like I’m being scammed,” Claire said. “But she talked to me on the phone for hours, and treated me like a friend.”

Of course the con woman talked kindly like a friend, I thought. That’s how they get you to trust them.

Claire continued, “But I haven’t given her money yet to proceed with my cure.”

“Claire, you don’t need any cures,” I said. “This person you’re talking to isn’t a doctor, and you aren’t sick! No one can curse you – a ‘curse’ is nothing more than believing something outside of you is emotionally and spiritually stronger than you. Tell me – do you believe this so-called psychic is more powerful than you?”

After a moment’s hesitation, Claire said, “N-no…”

“Good girl.” I then advised Claire to change her credit card number immediately.

We chatted awhile longer, and Claire seemed to feel better. After she hung up, I was saddened to realize that some people exist just to make others feel bad about themselves. I keep a little piece of newspaper clipping by my desk to remind me of this. It’s from the classified section, under “Astrologers/Psychics.” Here are some of the ads:

“Mr. W— solves all problems quickly. Work, Love, Health, Depression, Enemies, Sexual Problem, Bad Luck. 100% Removal of Black Magic.”

“Spiritualist Mr. K— solves problems related to love, court, business, family, money, enemy. Treats black magic 100%.”

Lesson four – and probably the most important thing to remember – a reputable psychic or medium never promises to cure your problems. That’s your job. Life can often be tough and, for sure, we encounter challenges. But we grow spiritually and emotionally when we learn self-empowermentArticle Search, and are able to reject those who say they can cure our ills for a price of crystals and candles.

Meditating with the dalai lama

I’ve got spirit to thank for guiding me back to meditation. And a rude driver that cut me off while I was driving around. A silver Lexus shot out of one lane and zoomed into a shoebox-sized space between my car and the one before me.

I’ve got spirit and the Dalai Lama to thank for guiding me back to meditation. And a rude driver that cut me off while I was driving around, trying to get the ingredients I needed for a special dinner for my husband and me. A silver Lexus shot out of one lane and zoomed into a shoebox-sized space between my car and the one before me. I jammed the brake, gritted my teeth, then thought, I’m going to show that (insert your favourite word here) driver! But just before putting my foot to the gas pedal, a voice in my head said three very wise words:

Do no harm.

I took a deep, calming breath and watched the Lexus zoom from one lane to another. People shouldn’t drive like that, I thought, then realized: But what can I do about it? Just keep myself safe, I guess. So I drove home carefully, made myself a cup of tea, then sat on the couch and chose a book from the stack I’d put aside to read over the holidays.

The book I picked was the Dalai Lama’s How to Practice: The Way to a Meaningful Life.

What leapt out from those pages was His Holiness’ credo: “Do No Harm.” Wow, I thought. An hour ago, my blood had been boiling. Something in me needs to shift, I thought. Driving was driving me crazy. And then I heard, Do no harm…

That’s when I realized I hadn’t taken the time to sit still in awhile. How long had it been since I last meditated? I needed to reconnect with my spirit. So I went into my office, turned the lights low, put on some quiet music, said a prayer, sat back and closed my eyes.

My intention was to experience the words “Do no harm.” I sat quietly for about 20 minutes, and the same time the next day, and the next. The first couple times back to my practice, I saw a blank screen, like I was sitting in a darkened movie theatre. Perhaps I was watching the inside of my eyelids. But that was fine. I had no expectations. I figured I was getting what I needed. A ticket to Relaxville.

Then one afternoon I meditated with the blank screen, when in my mind’s ear, I heard “I am here!” And one by one, my four guides telepathically told me their names and talked to me:

AHMED is a brown-skinned, bearded man wearing a sultan’s cap. His purpose is to help me understand different cultures. I’ll teach you to see that ‘All is one,’ he said.

LAGSHMI is an East Indian woman filled with Mother Earth energy. Her purpose is to teach compassion and love in my message work, and in my everyday life.

RULMI is a Maori warrior, a stocky man with wavy, thick black hair. His face is painted with tribal symbols. He is fierce, yet quiet, and his intense eyes are always watchful.

The ASCENDED MASTER didn’t give me his name, but he’s a high spiritual leader who’s had an intense human experience. He’s behind me for support, and leads me to books that will help my soul progression.

I thanked each of these spirit guides for touching in with me, then came out of my meditation. Meeting them filled me with great happiness and peace, and I promised myself to do my best to continue my meditation practice.

And, who knows? Perhaps, down the road, I’ll discover my guides have changed, because I’ll have put into practice the lessons Ahmed, Lagshmi and Rulmi gave me to learn. And if a silver Lexus should jump out at me from traffic – I’ll say a quick prayerFind Article, remember to do no harm and hope that hurried fellow finds peace.

Let it go

Carlos telephoned me because he wanted to hear from his father, Gustavo, who’d died several years ago. At the beginning of our session, he told me he’d dreamed of his father, who appeared as a phantom-like figure on the edge of his unconscious awareness. Gustavo had spoken to him, but his voice had sounded blurred, like he was speaking underwater. And that made no sense to Carlos, because his father hadn’t drowned.

I centred myself and asked my guides to bring me Carlos’ father. After a bit of uncomfortable stillness, I felt a male energy, but the spirit seemed like he was in the far corner of my reading room. Was this Gustavo? Why was he being so difficult?

“Let me tell you what I’m getting,” I said, concentrating on the ephemeral presence nearby. “The spirit is male. A heavy-set fellow with big hands. And now he’s pointing to his head. There’s a pain in his head.”

Carlos hissed, “Yes.” Then he took a breath and said, “Go on.”

The spirit drew closer to me and I felt compelled to stand up. I said with an edge in my voice, “Let it go.” That surprised me, giving such a sharp command to my client. “That’s how your father would speak, right?”

“Yes. When he was angry about something.”

“Well, your father isn’t angry. He’s—“

A searing pain stabbed my left temple. My eyes squeezed shut and I gritted my teeth. If this isn’t mine, I thought, take it away. The pain vanished. And then I knew what had happened.

“Your father was shot in the head,” I said slowly.

“Yes,” he growled

“Your father says, ‘Let it go.’”

“I can’t.”

“Let it go,” I said emphatically, speaking with Gustavo’s energy. “You’ll only get in trouble. It’s over. Gustavo says it’s over. That’s why he hasn’t come to you. He doesn’t want you to follow him. Let it go.”

Carlos didn’t speak. In my mind, I saw him standing on a dark street corner, his hand in his pocket gripping a weapon made of cold steel, waiting impatiently for someone to walk by so he could take the next step in a drama of vengeance that would seal his own fate.

“Your father says, ‘Promise me. You promise me. You won’t do anything about it.’”

A minute ticked by. It felt like an hour. I wanted Gustavo to say something more to calm his son, but his energy had melted away. I begged anyone else in the spirit world to come forward and talk Carlos out of making a terrible mistake, but the room stayed silent and cold.

Then he said, “Yes, I promise.”

I sensed Carlos’ energy settle. Searching for something to say, I asked him, “Are you all right?”

“Fine.” He sighed as if he was carrying a great weight on his back. “I just need to think.” Then he thanked me for the session and hung up.

I prayed for his guides to help him ease that weight, and give him the inner strength to keep the promise he made to his father. As the days went by, and I nervously scanned the newspapers for word of a story that I knew would break my heart, I came to realize the lesson Carlos taught me: There are some things in life we can’t control, and if we push too hard to exert our willBusiness Management Articles, it ends up controlling us.

Time in the spirit world

What?? Everyone’s getting ready to celebrate Halloween, and yesterday I saw my first Christmas decorations. Outside a supermarket, young men were stringing lights around several pine trees. Already? I thought, then a dab of panic set in as I wondered, Have I done all my shopping yet?

What?? Everyone’s getting ready to celebrate Halloween, and yesterday I saw my first Christmas decorations. Outside a supermarket, three young men were stringing lights around several pine trees. Already? I thought, then a dab of panic set in as I wondered, Have I done all my shopping yet? I took a deep breath and smiled. No need to rush. And as I sat in my car and watched the high-schoolers making the market entrance festive, I remembered why December was important to a young newlywed, how her wish came true and the lesson that spirit moves at its own speed.

When Jeanette called for her appointment, the oak trees on the front lawn had dropped little piles of brightly coloured red and yellow leaves. I made a mental note to hire the youngster who lived down the street for a little raking.

I closed my eyes, said a quick prayer, then asked Jeanette’s mom to speak. Mom also brought through Uncle Barry and his wife, who said she was glad whenever Jeanette wore the brooch that she’d left to Jeanette in the will. Then I passed along some information about the house Jeanette and her husband had just purchased, and other minutia that I now can’t remember. But I do remember what Jeanette said when I asked if she had any questions.

“When will Bill and I have our first child?”

She and her husband had been trying to conceive for three years, and the couple was considering a fertility clinic.

In my mind, Jeanette’s mother sharply whispered, December!

“Spirit is telling me that you will pregnant in December,” I said. Jeanette was overjoyed. December was two months away, and by the way she was expressing her excitement, it seemed like she couldn’t wait to call Bill for an afternoon delight.

Just after Christmas, I received a downhearted email from Jeanette. She still hadn’t conceived.

I felt a tug in my stomach. Jeanette had been so happy when spirit, through me, gave her that message. In my heart, I knew spirit was never wrong. Had I misinterpreted something? But I’d sensed her mother’s voice so clearly!

For the next few weeks I thought about that reading. And then, as time has a way of creating distance, the memory of Jeanette’s session faded away. Winter became spring, which gave way to a mild summer and a damp fall. The Farmer’s Almanac predicted a harsh winter. I made sure to have enough wood in the basement to feed the fireplace.

On December 15, I received an unexpected call. Jeanette, gushing happily, told me she was pregnant.

My spirit soared. “I’m so happy for you!” I said, and remembered her mother’s word. December! And here it was, December – but one year later. So spirit was right. It just wasn’t the December I assumed spirit was talking about.

That was a great lesson for me. Time is different in the spirit world. There are no clocks on the other side of life. Spirit doesn’t wear a watch. It’s only here on the earth plane that things are expected to get done by some deadline. So now, when spirit gives my client a particularly significant day or month, I add: “But it might not be this Tuesday (or OctoberArticle Search, or whatever).”

I thought about that as I watched the fellows decorate the pine trees outside the supermarket. So what if I haven’t bought any holiday gifts yet? There’s no rush to go shopping. I’ve got plenty of time.

Dimes feathers and hugs

I once had a client who believed her husband, Jim, who had passed into spirit six months previously, had returned to Earth as a cat. She got this idea because several times while sitting in her backyard garden, thinking about how much she missed her partner of thirty-one years, a fluffy white cat walked by. In fact, once the cat had stopped, looked at her, meowed once, then scampered off.

While I do believe in reincarnation, I gently explained that I didn’t think Jim became the cat – instead, his spirit may have influenced the cat to pass when she was remembering him. “It was Jim’s way of saying hi, and letting you know he’s thinking of you, too.”

I often hear stories like that – a butterfly alights on a headstone the moment loved ones stop by the grave to pay their respects, or a car alarm goes off when friends talk about how much they miss their buddy. How many times has this happened to you: A song comes on the radio that reminds you of someone in spirit – just as you were thinking about that person?

I don’t know how spirit can set off a car alarm or influence a DJ to play a certain song at just the right time. But it happens. You may not notice it, but I’m willing to bet it happens to you more often than you think.

Just be aware of dimes and feathers.

At a recent public message event, I scanned the audience and immediately felt drawn to a woman with the deepest blue eyes I’d ever seen. They almost seemed to glow. Spirit has a message for her, I thought, as I connected with her energy. That’s why they’re pointing her out to me. As I started to speak with her, I imagined a dime.

“Why is a dime so important to you?” I asked, mystified.

She shrugged.

Her friend sitting beside her nudged her with an elbow. “Remember the dime you found outside the door?” she said. “You were saying how you hoped your mother would come through, and then you saw it on the ground.”

A picture formed in my mind, and I described an Italian woman with a flowery apron in a kitchen making cannolis. The woman nodded enthusiastically, saying it was her mother, whose specialty was cannolis. Then I gave more evidence and a message from her mother in spirit.

“Oh, I’m gonna keep this lucky dime,” the woman said, reaching into her pocket.

“That’s one way our loved ones in spirit let us know they’re around, watching over us,” I said. “They take the change people drop, then move it with their energy so we find it. Save those coins. I put them in a jar and at the end of a year, donate the money to charity. That’s my way of returning the spirit money back to spirit.”

I then asked the group if they ever found feathers, or saw them float down from the sky – especially when no birds were around. A few people raised their hands. “That’s another way spirit contacts us,” I said.

“And do you ever feel a tingle that runs up your back or down the arms when you’re thinking about someone who had died?” Many people were nodding. “That’s a spirit hug. Next time that happens, imagine the person holding you in their arms and giving you a loving hug.”

The rest of the event went well, and I continued bringing through evidence of life after death for many in the audience. As people filed out of the roomFree Articles, I hoped that their loved ones would find away to touch in with them. Perhaps a few of them would stop to pick up a dime or feather they might have ignored and walked past before.

Imagine this: An old friend or a loved one you haven’t heard from in years has stopped by to visit. This person has come from far away, and spent lots of effort to travel and contact you. They appear at your front door and knock loudly, wait patiently, but get no answer. Where are you? They can see lights on in your house, and just knows you’re home. Why won’t you answer? Frustrated and a little disappointed, your special visitor eventually leaves – with the hope that later, you’ll recognize that they’ve been here. Sound familiar? This is what spirit experiences when it cannot connect with someone on the Earth plane.

It happens occasionally when I’m working at public message events. I describe a spirit person who touches in with me, but no one in the audience claims that spirit. It’s sad, because they work so hard to come through, and want so much to connect with you.

That occurred at a recent Spirit Inspired Messages event that was being taped by Slither Productions in Peterborough, ON, for a TV pilot. Three television cameras were trained on my face as I gazed out over the crowd. Beyond the cameras and the lights, about 100 pairs of eyes stared at me, and the silence was so heavy, you couldn’t lift it off the floor. I had just given a name that spirit had whispered in my ear – Jim McPherson – and no one in the audience raised a hand to identify him. I repeated the name, and gazed hesitantly over the group.

A moment later, I tasted Listerine – the old fashioned kind that was yellow. With my third eye, I saw a set of perfect teeth and a pair of size 12 black shoes that were polished to a glistening sheen.

“Can anyone take this gentleman?” I asked, after repeating the information.

Silence answered me. Spirit gave me a few more details – he had been a successful businessman, and enjoyed Big Band music. No one spoke up. I felt bad that no one recognized him. His spirit presence was so strong, I just knew he had an important message for someone in the crowd.

Seconds ticked by that felt like hours. In the corner of my eye, I caught the camera person giving me the signal to move on. I suddenly remembered this was TV, and a couple moments of empty air can seem like hours of nothing on the tube. So I mentally thanked the spirit for coming by, then blessed him and let him go.

And wouldn’t you know it! After the taping ended, a woman approached me to identify the spirit that had gone unclaimed. The Listerine man was her friend’s father, who had been well-known in the community. The woman had kept quiet because she was nervous about what Jim McPherson might say in public. Then she asked me if I could bring Jim back.

I tried linking with Jim’s spirit, but he’d gone. “I’m sorry,” I told her. She gave a regretful smile, then moved away. I had to wonder if Jim had been something more than a friend.

I feel bad whenever I can’t place spirits, because they work so hard to connect with me. Each spirit that goes unclaimed is like a lost opportunity; they come because have a message – maybe to make some kind of amend, or just to say “I love you.” Imagine how you’d feel if you were looking forward to talking with someone you cared forBusiness Management Articles, but had to go away because the door was locked – even though you knew someone was home.

The weight of grief

When a couple in their late 40’s, signed on for their Skype session, the pressure in my office seemed to change. I smiled and tried making pleasant conversation to relax them, but neither gave more than one or two-word replies.

When Brenda and David, a couple in their late 40’s, signed on for their Skype session, the pressure in my office seemed to change, as if they’d brought a wall of protective silence with them. I smiled and tried making pleasant chit-chat to relax them, but neither gave more than one- or two-word replies. I sensed their grief, and wondered how soon it was that their child had died.

Brenda pulled from her purse a photograph of a young girl in a soccer uniform: Cassie, their 12-year-old daughter, who’d died suddenly three years ago. I blinked in surprise. Three years ago? Brenda’s pain was so strong, it felt like she was mourning a passing that had occurred days ago.

David’s sorrow did not feel as strong. As I asked my guides for the best way to serve this couple, I began to understand that David had made his peace with Cassie’s passing. Interestingly, I sensed he was grieving more for his wife, who was suffering so intensely, her soul felt as if it was in another room.

I wondered if the couple would be better off seeing a grief counselor, rather than working with me. But then I felt a gentle presence enter the room, and in my mind’s eye I saw the girl in Brenda’s photograph standing behind her dad. As I opened my mouth to describe what I was getting, Cassie raised a finger to her lips shhhh! and in my head, she asked to talk to her dad.

But your mother and father want to talk with you, I mentally told Cassie. They came because they love you.

She shook her head. I don’t want to hurt mom any more.

“I’m having a little trouble linking in. How about if I try sitting with you one at a time?” I said, disliking telling this little white lie. But if spirit thought it best that I talk with these people separately, then what else could I do?

“I’ll go first,” Brenda said. David left his wife’s side. I centred myself, and waited for Cassie to touch back in with me.

But Cassie didn’t come. Instead, Brenda’s mother, grandmother and two aunts in spirit wanted to talk with her. I provided enough evidence for Brenda to recognize her family members, and each had the same message for her – we support you, we love you, you’re strong enough to get through this. Brenda sat still as stone, her face expressionless, her eyes like dull copper pennies. I knew she wanted to hear from Cassie, but I was not going to make something up just to please her.

After twenty minutes, Brenda and David changed places. As soon as he was alone with me, he whispered, “She sleeps in Cassie’s room, in her bed.” He sadly shook his head, then blew out a breath. “She tried going back to work six months ago, but couldn’t take it. Most mornings she comes downstairs for coffee, then goes back into Cassie’s room, closes the door, and I don’t see her until I get home from work.”

Behind him, Cassie’s spirit emanated sadness, as if she was grieving for her mother. I told David this, and passed on other feelings Cassie was communicating to me – that she was fine, and watching over her little sisterBusiness Management Articles, and helping her get through feelings of being abandoned by her mother.

David seemed relieved to hear that…

Strengthen the light within protection from fear

Every time I teach a development class, I devote a good section of time to question and answer periods. Though every class is mostly different, I can always count on hearing a version of this question: “How can we protect ourselves from dark forces?”

Every time I teach a psychic development class, I devote a good section of time to question and answer periods. Though every class is different, I can always count on hearing a version of this question: “How can we protect ourselves against the dark forces?”

Despite hearing that question dozens of times, I don’t have a set answer. All I know is that, once asked, I have to tread carefully, because I don’t want to scare any beginning students from opening themselves up to experiencing the gifts of communication with spirit. Yet at the same time, I do believe that there is negative energy out there. I’ve met spirits that were what some might call “dark” – but they weren’t creatures created by Stephen King or Hollywood special effects technicians to scare the money out of the wallets of teenage movie goers.

The dark spirits I’ve met are lost, lonely, confused and tormented souls who, for one reason or another, are afraid of crossing into the light. Most of them fear God won’t let them into “heaven” because of errors they committed while alive. Other spirits don’t know they’re dead, or don’t want to accept the fact that they’ve left the Earth plane. And a few are angry and have no way to get rid of their negative energy. So they hang around the Earth plane as poltergeists and play tricks, and occasionally latch themselves onto a Ouija board and try to lure people astray. (Which is why I avoid Ouija boards.)

These spirits need to be treated with love and compassion. I know several rescue mediums who feel it’s a noble calling to guide these lost souls into the light. These very strong-willed mediums don’t take their jobs lightly. Though they may get unnerved now and then, they strongly believe in their power and that their spirit guides are powerful.

There are two key words here: fear and power. So, whenever anyone asks me about protecting themselves from “the dark”, I remember those two words. Because fear feeds negative energy. And power – belief in the strength of your self-confidence, self-esteem and self-love – will defeat anything.

Many people are told to visualize pure, white light, which acts as protection in certain situations. White light is also as a symbol for the Divine, and calling white light into a troubling experience is asking God or the energy of love to be with you. I also believe white light symbolizes the power of our higher self. And what makes up our higher self? The knowledge that we are strong, wise beings with a deep sense of confidence and commitment to expressing the love of the universe, which flows in us and through us.

So: How can you protect yourself against the darkness? By turning on a light –your light. By strengthening the light within you, and understanding that you can shine as bright as the sun. Meditate on this, and repeat this mantra often: “I am in control of my life. I control my light.”

Questions about protection also come from clients who sometimes feel afraid that they may not be in control of their lives.
