Being smart in carpet cleaning stain marks of red wine in lighter colored fiber

It’s an entirely different scenario to hold back tears when a full glass of red wine leaves its mark on your white carpet! What can you do to remove red wine stains from your carpet.

It’s an entirely different scenario to hold back tears when a full glass of red wine leaves its mark on your white carpet! What can you do to remove red wine stains from your carpet.

There are several solid methods for removing red wine stains that have worked well in a pinch, see which one works well for you. Just remember, whatever you do, don’t let the spill sit for long before taking action, the longer it sits the more difficult it will be to lift the stain from your carpet or clothing.

First Response

Take a clean cloth and dab the spill in an effort to get the excess wine up and out of the carpet or clothing fibers ASAP. Once you have the majority of the spill blotted up, next you can tackle the stains with a variety of wine stain weapons. For starters you can take your favorite carpet shampoo or clothing stain remover, and clean as you would if the wine stain were a bit of dirt on the carpet or clothing. Or you can go for a less conventional, but often times more successful approach and try one of these tried and true wine stain solutions.

Salt it Out

A good dabbing job will take most of the wine out of the carpet, but usually not all of it. To help get the rest out, try covering the stained spot with a generous portion of salt. The salt granules will gradually draw the moisture in the stain out of the carpet over the next few hours.

Blot up the spilled wine right away. The longer you let red wine sit in your carpet, the harder it will be to get rid of the stain. Do yourself a big favor by acting fast! As soon as you notice the spill, grab a paper towel or rag and blot the stain to pick up as much liquid as possible before it can set.

Apply some cold water and keep blotting. Eventually, it will get difficult to blot more of the wine out. At this point, try getting the stain wet again with a small amount of cold water. This helps dilute the wine remaining in the carpet. Continue blotting (not rubbing) until the carpet is dry again.

White Wine to the Rescue

When red wine is spilled onto your carpet or clothes, white wine can be your true companion. White wine will help neutralize red wine and will make it easier to lift the color off of your carpet or clothing. Simply pour white wine over the stained area and very gently blot the liquid up with a thick towel (be very careful not to rub as this will force the stain into the carpet or clothing fibers). If the stain is still visible, you can add salt or soda to continue lifting out pigment.

How to save and succeed in natural way of carpet cleaning

The sooner you treat your spot, the better chance you have of removing it from your carpet’s fibers. A few examples of stains are make-up, feces, vomit, or gum. Some spot blunders, such as spilling nail polish, may require the help of a professional. If you can’t get it out yourself by combining 2/3 cup of cold water with 1/3 cup white vinegar.

Spots and stains on carpet can be a disaster for anyone that likes to keep a clean home. Unfortunately, treating carpet spots and stains isn’t a perfect science. Depending on how long the stain or spot has been untreated and the pigment of your carpet’s fibers, the treatment method may vary greatly.

When beginning this process it is important to know the difference between a spot and stain. Although it may seem unimportant, this is an important factor in determining the method of treatment. There are many methods out there to naturally treat a spot on carpet.

From chocolate, blood, pet feces, gum, mildew, nail polish, to sports drinks, every household will deal with spots and stains that will harm the overall quality of your carpet. But not all mishaps are created equal. To help you with this we have highlighted a few tips to help you determine between the two and know how to deal with each carpet blunder correctly—and know when it’s time to bring in a carpet cleaning professional before it get worst.

The easiest way to identify a spot, as a general rule of thumb, is to see if you can “feel” where the carpet blunder occurred. This is the main difference between spots and stains. Often it is easier to apply a do-it-yourself treatment to restore your carpet (until your next professional cleaning) than it is to completely remove a stubborn stain.

It’s simple, the longer you wait before cleaning up stains, the harder it is to remove! Always have the tools ready in a bucket or a toolbox so when the inevitable happens you won’t be scrambling around looking for these items because its sitting there in a designated area ready for action.

Sometimes there are stains that we might have overlooked that may have dried out. These always happens after parties or if your pet pees somewhere without you knowing. Don’t worry, I’ve found some techniques around the internet that have been tried and tested for dried out stains

First, vacuum up the stain as much as you can. Second, blot damp towels saturated in water onto the stain to dilute the chemicals as much as possible. Finally, continue to blot until all the moisture has been absorbed. Never scrub back and forth when trying to remove a stain. This may worsen the problem and result in having to replace the carpet altogether, and always do your best to treat the stain as quickly as possible.

Depending on the stain, the treatment method may vary greatly. In fact, while some stains are relatively simple to remove yourself, others can be nearly impossible. It all depends on the chemical make-up of the food or drink that is spilled on your carpet. While some may be cleaned up with only water-based mix, some may require a more serious solution. Tea, sports drinks, ink, mustard, and bleach, are some of the worst stains.

How can be a flood restoration job turn out the way we want it as safe as possible

Mold growth not only ruins walls, furniture, carpets, flooring, etc., it can lead to poor indoor air quality causing respiratory problems including asthma, and can lead to severe illness.Preventing mold growth is key to keeping your home’s air clean and healthy. So in addition to calling your insurance company, here are a few tips to deal with your flooded basement and minimize the water damage.

Mold can be found almost anywhere; it can grow on virtually any organic substance, as long as moisture and oxygen are present. Concern about indoor exposure to mold has been increasing as the public becomes aware that exposure to mold can cause a variety of health effects and symptoms, including allergic reactions.

The indoor molds that grow after a flood primarily affect the respiratory system, says Jay Portnoy, director of allergy, asthma and immunology at Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinic, Kansas City, Missouri. “When mold grows on a surface that’s damp, it produces a lot of things that get into the air. Spores contain allergens that can become airborne, causing asthma and nasal allergy, so people have trouble breathing. They can also produce volatile organic compounds which produce that moldy, musty smell. It’s very irritating, and even if you are not allergic, can cause respiratory problems. And the sheer number of particles they produce as they make spores can be irritating. There is a lot of harm that can occur in a moldy environment.”

There is mold that can grow on wood, paper, carpet, foods, and insulation. When excessive moisture accumulates in buildings or on building materials, mold growth will often occur, particularly if the moisture problem remains undiscovered or unaddressed. It is impossible to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment. However, mold growth can be controlled indoors by controlling moisture indoors.

Since mold requires water to grow, it is important to prevent moisture problems in buildings. Moisture problems can have many causes, including uncontrolled humidity.

Assess the size of the mold or moisture problem and the type of damaged materials before planning the remediation work. The decision to relocate occupants should consider the size and type of the area affected by mold growth, the type and extent of health effects reported by the occupants, the potential health risks that could be associated with debris, and the amount of disruption likely to be caused by remediation activities. If possible, flood restoration activities should be scheduled during off-hours when building occupants are less likely to be affected.

Contaminated, porous materials like drywall and carpet need to be dumped, not bleached, says Straus. “We usually don’t recommend putting bleach on things. It may kill mold in the immediate time frame, but as long as things stay wet, mold will grow.”

And although bleach will kill mold at the surface, the slender hyphae of fungus penetrate deep into wood, which bleach cannot reach. “Wood, obviously, is much more difficult to remove, and wood framing is almost impossible,” says Straus. “If framing is dried quickly, mold is not going to grow on it, nothing like the way it grows on Sheetrock. The best thing to do is get all water-damaged material out immediately, and the things you can’t get out, try make sure they are dried as quickly as possible.”

But at a certain point, expert advice makes sense, Portnoy says. “There are experts who specialize in this area; the typical home inspector may not have all the qualifications you need.” Many people wear a paper mask while removing moldy crud, and these masks may filter out spores and particles, but not mycotoxins. Thrasher, however, advocates more protection. “Treat it like a highly dangerous situation. Don’t do any cleaning without respiratory protection, up to and including a complete hazmat suit.”

Choose the non sticky way in carpet cleaning sticky stains of candies

Sticky candy and gum can be a real hassle to remove from your carpet, but don’t panic. Candy, no matter how sweet, may leave a bitter impression on some of your favorite items. Here’s how to treat those sticky stains after you treat your sweet tooth.

Sticky candy and gum can be a real hassle to remove from your carpet, but don’t panic. Candy, no matter how sweet, may leave a bitter impression on some of your favorite items. Here’s how to treat those sticky stains after you treat your sweet tooth.

Candy that has been in little mouths sometimes find their way to your carpet and inevitably get stuck in the fibers similar to getting stuck in hair we tend to think we may reluctantly need to reach for the scissors to remove the sticky mess but this isn’t always necessarily true. There are actually a number of methods you can try on your carpet before reaching for the scissors to cut it out.

Sticky candy can get ground into your carpet and you don’t even know it.The longer it sits there the worse the mess gets. Don’t reach for your scissors to try and cut the sticky gunk out of your carpet. We suggest you let the stain dry completely, and then carefully scrape what you can from the surface of the carpet. Be very gentle. You don’t want the gum or candy to sink further into the carpet fibers. After you have removed as much candy as you can from the carpet, use our spot remover to attack the stain. Blot the stain with a clean, white cloth to absorb the spot remover along with the stain. Again, be very, very gentle. You really don’t want to push the stain further into the carpet.

It’s hard for kids to turn down sweet candy treats, and sometimes they manage to spill it all over your clean carpet. Candy messes on the floor can be fairly stubborn accidents to clean up, especially if it’s deeply embedded into the carpet fibers. Candy contains many different dyes, depending on what type of sweet it is.  You need to take into account what type of carpet you have because there are different procedures for removing sticky candies from carpet. It’s not a good idea to forcefully pull stuck candy out of your carpet because it can rip the carpet fibers up, and leave loose dangling threads.

Initially, you need to take some sort of scraping tool (butter knife works great) and scrape up as much of the excess sticky candy from the carpet. You need to eliminate as much of the thick, caked-on candy from the floor. Next, dip a sponge into warm water, gently brush outward from the center of the stain to wipe off any more candy particles. Now, take approximately ½ a teaspoon of liquid dish soap and work it into the carpet fibers with your fingers. Wet a paper towel and blot the stain to transfer the surplus of candy. You will need a clean cloth dipped in distilled white vinegar, and then begin to dampen the remaining stain. Let the distilled white vinegar sit for a few minutes, in order to better remove the candy stain. The distilled white vinegar will help dissolve any of the leftover candy residues! To lift, press down onto the stain with a clean cloth. If the stain still persists, repeat the process of dampening the spot with vinegar, and then blotting. Once you have fully removed the candy spill, flush the newly cleaned area with water. Allow the affected area to dry naturally. Store-bought carpet cleaners for stains also prove to be just as effective as well.

Don’t let little candy messes get you frustrated, candy stains might take a little bit of elbow grease, but they are definitely not impossible to clean up!

What is the best way to clean sand during carpet cleaning

Sand can be very bad for the carpet for a number of reasons. For one, they can cause the carpet to look dirty and filthy ultimately affecting its appearance and look. Another negative effect that sand can have on the carpet is that it can get deposited deep in the carpet fibers and over time can result to build-up which can lead to carpet damage.

Sand can often be very awkward and time consuming to remove from carpets and mats. Once trodden in it works it’s way to the bottom of the fibres of the upholstery and will remain there until it is dealt with properly.

Whether your kids have tracked in sand inside the house in their shoes after a day at the beach or a bucket of sand inadvertantly ended up dumped on your living room carpet, you have probably discovered that it is pretty hard to get sand out of carpet, although it will seem to always stick to the bottoms of your bare feet and then track into other parts of the house and make even your hyardwood or tile floors seem gritty right afer washing. But how to get it out?

If you have sand problems on your carpet at home, don’t worry as there are a lot of approaches that you can use to remedy this situation. Below are some helpful tips that you can use to ensure that you clean up the sand on your carpet properly and thoroughly.

Immediately vaccuming your carpet as soon as you discover the sand on the carpet is one of the best things that you can do. This is because if you vacuum the carpet right away as soon as the sand gets on it you can have the best chance to remove it easily and without any problems. Putting off cleaning the sand on the carpet will just cause the sand to settle deeper in the carpet fibers thus making it a lot tougher to remove. Always try to clean up any sand on your carpet right away to best take care of your carpet and keep it clean.

Using a wet/dry vac can also be something that you can try doing in order to clean up the sand on the carpet. This approach is particularly effective if you are trying to remove clumps of sand which has gotten on your carpet. The wet/dry vac easily sucks in all kinds of particles and small objects and will effectively remove any sand on your carpet without any trouble. Using this handy device can really make a big difference in carpet cleaning this kind of mess

More steps to follow

The first step to effectively removing sand is to take out all of the mats, then one by one beat them from the underside with a suitable implement to release as much loose sand as possible and to help bring the ingrained sand up to the surface. You should spend a little time doing this as the more sand you can remove now the better. Try to do this in a secluded area away from your car to prevent the sand and any other material from blowing back into, or onto your car.

The second step is to lay the mats down and use a stiff bristled upholstery or detailing brush to agitate them. This will further help to release any ingrained particles from the fibres, lifting them up to the surface. Work the brush in alternate directions and ensure all areas are sufficiently agitated.

While doing all of the mentioned steps, if the sand is still thereFind Article, try to call pros to do the proper technique for your benefit

How to start the pest control outside to eliminate flies successfully

Houseflies are the most common pests in and around homes. During daylight hours houseflies rest indoors on floors, walls and ceilings. They can be found outdoors on plants, the ground surface, fences and fence wires, garbage cans and other similar surfaces.

Houseflies are the most common pests in and around homes. During daylight hours houseflies rest indoors on floors, walls and ceilings. They can be found outdoors on plants, the ground surface, fences and fence wires, garbage cans and other similar surfaces.

If you don’t take care of flies outside your house or home, they will eventually get way into your house where they will not only annoy you but likely spread infections and diseases. Learning how to get rid of flies outside is crucial to preventing their entry into the house and transmission of diseases as well.

Outdoor Areas

The first step to control any fly problem successfully is to determine where the fly maggots are breeding. This process, termed source reduction, is always the most efficient method of control. If there are only a few flies around at any one time, then the breeding area may not be on your property. Since flies feed and lay eggs in areas such as garbage cans or dog kennels which are sources of food odors, cleaning these areas eliminates the problem.

Also control low fly numbers by using a residual insecticide spray to treat surfaces where flies usually rest. The discussions of fly identification and behavior given above can help you know where the flies might be coming from and where to apply insecticides for control. Take a few minutes to watch the flies to find out where they are resting or what seems to be attracting them. Choose one of the insecticides from Table 1 and apply it to fly resting areas according to label instructions

Conversely, without thorough sanitation, other control methods are largely ineffective. Therefore, trash should be kept in sealed containers (in trash bags and/or cans with tight-fitting lids). Dumpsters should be kept as clean as possible, emptied regularly and kept as far away from buildings as is practical. Manure and other decaying plant and animal material should be promptly removed. Also, eliminate areas of excessive moisture..

Other Steps to Take

Flies are strongly attracted to meat. Don’t be surprised therefore if a swarm of flies pop out of nowhere within a few minutes of setting up your barbeque grill. To stop that, keep all meat covered tightly when not in the grill and ensure that the barbeque grill remain closed at all times as the meat cooks. It is also important to ensure that any rotting meat or carcass in your vicinity is buried properly.

Flies are attracted to all manner of odors and eliminating any sources outdoors is a positive step towards controlling fly infestation. To start with, you should collect dog feces and throw it appropriately. One option is to place it in sealable bags before throwing it into your trash can. It is also important to keep your garbage bins tightly closed and clean.

Stagnant water tends to attract flies into your compound. Birdbaths are one common culprit. It is thus important to ensure that the water in them is changed frequently. It is also a good idea to get rid of any old tires and other debris that could retain rain water from your yard.

If all your effort will not work the way you expect itFeature Articles, do not hesitate to seek help from any pest control pros.

Faster and better way to do pest control at home against fire ants

When it comes to insect pests, fire ants would probably top everyone’s list! When it comes to insect pests, fire ants would probably top everyone’s list! Fire ant colonies can migrate into homes and other structures in search of food, water, and nesting sites, especially during periods of extreme outdoor heat, drought, or flooding rains. They can enter through any cracks and crevices.

Fire ants are no doubt a major pest throughout. They reproduce quickly, their stings hurt, their nests are unsightly and many times they strike with no indication for concern. If you need to treat a fire ant problem in your yard or home, this article will explain all you need to know so that you can successfully get rid of fire ants for good.

There are several methods to kill fire ants, some take a few hours, others a few weeks or months. The most important thing to remember when dealing with fireants is to be patient. And make sure you treat or remove all the mounds because if you miss even one young mound, they’ll win. Re-infestation will occur in less than a year.

Fire ant control can be time consuming and costly. But, hey, this is war! If you have one mound, chances are good that there are others in the area. They have tunneled underground and popped up where you see them. This makes it difficult to get rid of them because you must kill the queen. Getting to the queen can be hard.

Although we want to kill the fire ants as quickly as possible, it is better to be patient and use a product without a lot of poison in it. Remember, you must kill the queen. Fire ants pass along bits of chewed up food to each other until it reaches the queen. If they detect anything unusual in the food, they will not pass it along and it will never get to the queen. If you try to poison them quickly, it will look like you’ve been successful, but you’ve only put a temporary dent in the population unless the queen is gone.

Read on for the information we have for a fire ant killer.

Although it is commonly said that all is fair in love and war, we want to promote environmentally friendly actions. For an example of the issues which go along with fire ant control, please read the side note to the right.

You want to be very careful to kill only the fire ants and not all of the ants or you will have a far worse fire ant problem in the near future. The indigenous ants are effective at slowing down the spread of the fire ant populations, first simply by their entrenched position, but secondly by reducing food supply. Please take the time to be sure that you are attacking ONLY the fire ants.

Many fire ant bait products affect other ants as well as birds and other creatures. Please be aware of this limitation and only use baits when other solutions do not exist. The good news is that there are, or soon will be, some new baits on the market which only affect fireants and not other species.

The truth in keeping home pest control work well against fruitflies

Fruit flies are primarily nuisance pests. However, they also have the potential to contaminate food with bacteria and other disease-producing organisms. These tiny pests breed quickly, and can survive long after you’ve disposed of all your suspect fruits and vegetables. Winning the battle against fruit flies requires patience and persistence.

Fruit flies are the tiny little bugs that land on fruit and are nearly impossible to catch or kill once airborne. Some people call them gnats; others call them drain flies. No matter what you call them they are annoying and can be embarrassing once they take hold in your kitchen and start multiplying.

Despite being extremely small in size, gnats and fruit flies can become a huge nuisance if they are left to dwell in households and gardens.

The best way to avoid problems with fruit flies is to eliminate sources of attraction. Produce which has ripened should be eaten, discarded or refrigerated. Cracked or damaged portions of fruits and vegetables should be cut away and discarded in the event that eggs or larvae are present in the wounded area. A single rotting potato or onion forgotten at the back of a closet, or fruit juice spillage under a refrigerator can breed thousands of fruit flies. So can a recycling bin stored in the basement which is never emptied or cleaned.

People who can their own fruits and vegetables, or make wine, cider or beer should ensure that the containers are well sealed; otherwise, fruit flies will lay their eggs under the lid and the tiny larvae will enter the container upon hatching. Windows and doors should be equipped with tight-fitting (16 mesh) screens to help prevent adult fruit flies from entering from outdoors.

Fruit fly habitat is any place they can find something sweet or fermented, with a little moisture. Empty soda cans, wine bottles, and beer cans fit that bill perfectly. Once you’ve dumped the produce, turn your attention to the recycling bin. Take all your bottles and cans out for pickup. Then give the bin itself a thorough scrubbing to remove any residue of beer, wine, or juice.

A better approach, however, is to construct a trap by placing a paper funnel (rolled from a sheet of notebook paper) into a jar which is then baited with a few ounces of cider vinegar. Place the jar trap(s) wherever fruit flies are seen. This simple but effective trap will soon catch any remaining adult flies which can then be killed or released outdoors.

Know your enemy! I have a new respect for these pests after looking into why they are so difficult to kill on a surface or while airborne. If you tried hard and not worked at allScience Articles, better approach the pros

Wiser approach to attain success faster in carpet cleaning vomit stains and smells

Cleaning up vomit is one of the worst cleaning tasks around. When it lands on carpet, you have a double task. Remove the odors and the stains.

Cleaning up vomit is one of the worst cleaning tasks around. When it lands on carpet, you have a double task. Remove the odors and the stains.

The only thing worse than a vomit stain in your home is the smell of a vomit stain in your home, right? The good news – both the stain and the smell associated with vomit stains are both temporary. Cleaning vomit from carpet, and removing vomit smells is never a pleasant experience but it can be a successful one! Read on for effective cleaning strategies!

Next to urine, a vomit smell is the most difficult odor to remove from the carpet, furniture and cars. The stomach acids found in vomit cause it to cling to fibers and damage the material. Due to its clingy nature, it seems that, no matter how well the carpet is scrubbed, the odor will linger forever. Fortunately, there are several measures you can take to remove vomit odor.

You want to be sure you do a good job, or a nasty smell could haunt you for days to come! To learn how to clean up vomit quickly and effectively just follow our step-by-step guide below, which also includes handy tips on how to get that horrible vomit smell out of the carpet! If you’ve tried shampooing or spot-cleaning your carpet to remove the putrid smell of vomit, it’s time to ramp up your efforts with a one-two punch to eradicate the smell once and for all.

The first step in removing the smell is to remove the solid particulates. Put on a pair of gloves and pick up the solids. Place them in a bag and tie it off to prevent escape of the vomit smell. If the solids have dried, making them difficult to remove, soak the carpet with water to loosen them.

Scrub the area that was thrown up on with a detergent and water solution that is safe for the fabric. Read the manufacturer’s recommendation for the furniture, carpet or car upholstery. Never use a bleach containing detergent, as it will weaken carpet fibers.

Absorb all the liquid from the carpet or upholstery with a dry towel. Apply firm pressure to remove the liquid from the padding under the carpeting. A shop vacuum works well to remove the liquid from the extra thick padding of auto carpeting.

Wet the area with an enzymatic cleaner to remove the smell. Enzymes break down the odor causing elements of vomit, urine and feces. Thoroughly saturate the area and allow it set for a couple hours. This ensures the cleaner soaks into the padding and removes the vomit smell.

Soak up the excess liquid with a clean, dry towel. Apply firm pressure to draw up the water from the padding. The towel may need to sit for several hours to fully remove the water. A shop vacuum may be used, if desired.

Allow the carpet or upholstery to air dry overnight. If the smell is in a vehicle, crack the windows overnight. Use fans to help dry the area, if desired. The vomit smell will remain until the area is thoroughly dry.

Repeat the process if necessary. Large areas of vomit may require multiple applications of the enzymatic cleaner. If the vomit was not cleaned immediately, the vomit smell will be more difficult to remove.

Discoloration may remain in the area that was puked on. If this is the case, mix up a solution of baking soda and water so it forms a paste. Rub it on the surface and allow it to dry. Scrape it up, then vacuum. The stain should be removed.

There you have it – cleaning vomit from carpet may not be the most pleasant job, but it can be done. After you’ll be left with a clean, sanitized, and fresh-smelling carpet to be proud of! But there are times that all your tries may not work wellFeature Articles, you need a carpet cleaning professionals to do the job for you
