3 proven ways to make your party make you the talk of the town everyday

You may or may not already have experience giving parties, if you do, this article will help you to have a more successful party – no matter how big or small it is!

1. Money a Lot or a Little?
2. Lists, Lists and More Lists
3. Lasting Memory

Let’s look at how you do each of those three ideas.

1. Money a Lot or a Little?
Now, everyone knows that it is nice to have a lot of money, but is it really necessary to have a fun party? No, there are many easy ways to make the party a success without spending money. Just having background music adds to the festivities. I always make a homemade cake from a box mix and I always get compliments. With everyone so busy, my guests’ appreciate the homemade touch. Just because you spent mega bucks on the character does not mean the kids had more fun. We had a pool party and the kids did not want to get out and participate with the character. Think in terms of your audience. What do they think is fun?

2. Lists, Lists and More Lists
Let’s face it, organization is the key to success in many ways in your day to day living. This trait will save you time and money in most anything you do. Write that party list, review it, and use it. Include a: Guest list, Menu, Supplies and Decorations Needed, RSVP/Thank You Note list, create a Shopping List from the menu and supplies needed lists, and Order of Activities with time line.

3. Lasting Memory
Now think about this, the last time you or your child went to a party what do you remember about it? Where was it? What food was served? What was the party favor? Where is the party favor? I recently had a brunch. At the party, we had nameplates (picture frames) that doubled as party favors. During the party, I had my sister take a photo of each guest with my kids. You guessed it … we sent out thank you notes to each guest with the photo for the frame.

As you surely already know, your organization is a must have key to your successful party. I don’t care what you do – not being organized is suicidal. And remember, if you want your event to be the talk of the town take advantage of that Kodak moment.

Artist sananda maitreya becomes the first major artist to fully embrace file sharing with his own branded p2p file sharing software

TrustyFiles-powered P2P software gives Sananda Maitreya the hardline direct to his fans to share, try, and buy his latest songs.

DALLAS, USA and MILAN, ITALY, October 6, 2004 – Sananda Maitreya developed an innovative launch for his “Angels & Vampires” project that features his own version of TrustyFiles P2P (Peer to Peer) file sharing software. The campaign includes distribution of Weed format files over the major P2P networks. Sananda Maitreya also is exclusively making two new songs and a video available only through P2P.

“It’s not enough to just create protected files and say ‘here’s my music, please download’”, said Sananda Maitreya. “We have a fantastic group of fans. I owe them my success. RazorPop’s P2P Street Team captures the spirit of fan support and extends it into file sharing. Their custom TrustyFiles software is perfect for me to ask my fans to share my music and at the same time continue to stay close to them.”

Marc Freedman, founder and CEO of RazorPop said “We’ve worked with Heart and Steve Winwood on previous P2P promotions. The power of P2P for legitimate music is clear. The Heart campaign outsold iTunes. When Sananda Maitreya came to us, we decided to take P2P marketing to the next level.”

“We’ve made TrustyFiles software highly customizable. A popular feature is the P2P promotions channel. It’s a fixed window on the software display that gives the artist, distributor, or marketer a permanent presence to encourage free or protected file sharing, show the latest promotions, and display breaking news. 50% of Internet users share music and other files. If you’re a major artist, shouldn’t your fans and web visitors be sharing files on software with your name and logo, where you can directly sell your digital downloads, CDs, DVDs, and other merchandise?”

Sananda Maitreya’s file sharing software can be downloaded direct at http://p2pfiles.com/sw/Sananda/SanandaTF.exe (or go tohttp://www.sanandamaitreya.com/trustyfiles/p2p.html). As part of the campaign his video “Bella Faccina” and songs “Glad She’s Gone” and “She knows I’m Leaving” are only available to the file sharing community.

Sananda Maitreya’s music and video are directly promoted on the Sananda Maitreya and regular TrustyFiles P2P software. Other P2P users can find the music and video hosted on business class servers through searches on all major networks. Web surfers can download the music at http://www.TopP2P.com. The files are in Windows Media Player format and can be played on most major media player software and portable music player devices. The songs are packaged as Weed files, which allow 3 plays before the song must be purchased. New Weed users get $5 to buy their first few songs free.

RazorPop’s P2P distribution partner is Intent Mediaworks, an online artist marketer. Intent Mediaworks provides comprehensive P2P file hosting and distribution, including media digitization, file protection, and distribution to all major P2P networks.

Sananda Maitreya won a Grammy Award in 1989 for best Male R&B; Vocal. His multi-platinum album “Introducing The Hardline According To” sold over 12 million albums and was the #1 Billboard Chart R&B; Album in 1988. His smash single “Wishing Well” hit the top of the charts in the US and across the world. Other top songs have included “Sign Your Name”, “If You Let Me Stay”, “Delicate” with Des’ree, and “Holding On To You”.

RazorPop’s TrustyFiles is the industry’s leading multiple P2P network software. TrustyFiles searches and download hundreds of millions of files from TrustyFiles, Kazaa, Grokster, Morpheus, Limewire, Bearshare, Shareaza, and other Fast Track, Gnutella, Gnutella2 and Bit Torrent network users.

TrustyFiles software is designed for the user. It’s easy to use, free, and has no spyware and no bundled software. TrustyFiles developed the top performing P2P network engine for the fastest and most search results. Security features include a blocklist to protect from invasive users and virus scanning support to block infected files.

Company christmas party or holiday event planning made easy useful tips

“Holiday … planning is a serious business – a lot happens behind the scenes, long before the CEO says thanks for a job … says … BORIS (Boris … this time o

“Holiday entertainment planning is a serious business – a lot happens behind the scenes, long before the CEO says thanks for a job well-done”, says Incredible BORIS (Boris Cherniak).
Around this time of the year, human resources managers and company CEOs are asking the age-old question – How do we make our holiday event an affair to remember? After all, we are simply trying to thank the employees, suppliers and their families for a job well done throughout the year. We also want this event to motivate the group to be happy and productive in the future. This is a more difficult task that may appear from outside.

“The people planning functions have an enormous task of fitting into the ever-shrinking budgets while keeping party-goers satisfied,” says Boris Cherniak, corporate event planning professional, comedy hypnotist entertainer and motivational speaker.

Here is a helpful checklist of planning an affair for the holidays (as provided by Boris Cherniak):
1. Budget. Break down all the amounts allocated to each task then you can have a clear view of how much room you have to play. Spend it wisely and know what your limitations are. The old rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. If it appears too inexpensive, it may be the inexperience or you will not be getting what you expected. Get the best value possible with the resources you have available. It is easy to spend ANY budget. You may have to make a few sacrifices. What gets eliminated first and what should be kept at any cost? Always keep in mind of what the overall impression by the attendees will be. Leave a lasting impression.
2. Number of people in attendance – estimate the number of people expected at the party. Keep in mind that a small percentage may not attend due to lack of babysitters, illness or vacation.
3. Book banquet hall facilities, venue location. Pick a location that is convenient for your group with amenities like transportation, parking, etc.
4. Food and catering – dinner / lunch, drinks or buffet – most halls will offer you different choices of meal options, hors d’oerves, desserts and per person amounts. Make sure there are enough choices for all tastes.
5. Schedule and timing. It is easy to under-estimate the amount of time a function will take due to many unforeseen circumstances. Factors such as how long the speeches will take, time to bring out the food or attendees arriving late due to a freak snowstorm or traffic. This can change the dynamic of your event – plan accordingly and have a contingency plan.
6. Entertainment – comedian, hypnotist, juggler, psychic, magician, DJ and dancing, party games. Entertainment is a wonderful way to make your event memorable. Entertainment comes in many budgets and styles. Pick a solution that will not only make the company and event planner look good, but will leave a lasting impression on the attendees. Explore different options best suited to your group. Local or national performers can be considered. Many are available on the web and could be your first place of inquiry. Many agencies have a roster of people they can suggest. Never forget to look within your company for entertainment suggestions and talent (in every company there is a band or a disk jockey that would be more than happy to accommodate your budget and show off their talents). Keep in mind that entertainers are extremely busy during the holiday season – leaving booking your entertainment until the last minute is not a good idea as your date may no longer be available.
7. Sound, lighting, projection equipment and audio visual materials – Have a run-through and make sure everything is in place before your audience arrives so that you don’t have to deal with “technical difficulties”.
8. Accommodations for any out of town guests and transportation to and from the airport.
9. Taxi cabs for anyone that over-indulges in the open bar concept and to avoid liability.
10. Registration – name cards for your guests, open seating or pre-arranged seating plan.
11. Awards, door prizes and giveaways. Many of these can be donated by your suppliers or provided to you at their cost for your holiday event. It shows good faith, and don’t be surprised if the suppliers return the favor.
12. Party theme and décor – color scheme, chair covers, centerpieces, flowers, ice sculptures. One of the more unique ideas I saw recently was a sports theme, where instead of elegant centerpieces, sports memorabilia was placed in the center of the tables, which was available for the guests to take home – these included running shoes and football helmets.
13. Dress and attire. Let the attendees know what to expect to wear – formal, casual or business attire. We all heard a story of a prank where a person is invited to a pajama party when it’s a formal affair.
14. Invitations or a simple announcement in the company newsletter and bulletin board.
15. Contracts. Commit to the people you will be doing business with, since it usually is done on a first come basis. Halls, performers and caterers have limited availability. Be decisive and direct. Most people will give you a price range that would depend on your choice of options. Many event suppliers will require deposits to commit.
16. Presentations – keep the speeches brief and to the point. Number of speakers should be kept down to a minimum. After all, people are there to be social and not to be lectured.
17. Everyone wants to have a party on a Saturday. You may find that having an alternate day of the week may greatly reduce your expenses and make it easier to hire entertainment and book your venue. Also, consider having your function early afternoon. A lunch is less expensive than a seven-course dinner.
18. Include a table for the crew, entertainment and other behind-the-scenes people. They, at times forget to eat to make sure your event runs smoothly. Show them the spirit of the holiday season and include them in your celebrations.
19. If your business is busy during the holiday season, consider having your event earlier or later. It should not make a difference if your function is held in November or January instead of December.
20. Have a cell phone handy for any last-minute emergencies the day of your event. If a cell phone is not an option (no signal or simply unavailable), make sure your suppliers have the venue address and phone number. Your function will be attended by people from many walks of life and backgrounds – politically correct term is Holiday Party. Make it chic, memorable and fun. Have people walk away saying – I had a great time, that was incredible.”

Flaming guitars minarik fuels the excitement of a new generation of musicians

… an … between G-Man Music and the fiery … known as Minarik Guitars, Scott G (The G-Man) reviews the Minarik Inferno … the … to the Flying V to the Ice

Celebrating an endorsement between G-Man Music and the fiery axe-makers known as Minarik Guitars, Scott G (The G-Man) reviews the Minarik Inferno X-treme.

From the Telecaster to the Flying V to the Iceman to the Warlock, some guitar designs are forever branded on our consciousness, and now there’s a new one: the Minarik Inferno X-treme. The body shape erupts in furious fingers of flame. If ever there was a guitar design destined to ignite the imagination of young players, especially boys and girls who want to rawk, this is it.

Not that the Inferno X-treme lacks subtlety. With scientifically placed tone chambers, this instrument can sing sweetly if that’s what you desire. Or, it can live up to its appearance and enable you to carve sonic craters in the parking lot.

Although this guitar has a look that will inspire thousands of preteen statements along the lines of “Mom, that’s the one I want,” I suspect that tons of established players will find it useful in the studio or on the road because of its delicate balance, sleek feel, and stunning versatility. (And besides, the cunningly crafted guitar is also available in a more traditional body shape.)

“So, what’s the story on Minarik Guitars?” I can hear you ask. As the designer of the B.C. Rich Goddess Warlock and several other noteworthy models, Marc Minarik already has a legacy in the business. Now heading up his own company, Minarik has the goal of fusing quality workmanship with visually exciting design concepts.

Actually, his plan is much more complex than “make it attractive and build it right.” Marc Minarik is as eager to talk about the playability of his guitars as about their construction and appearance. And if you inquire about the light weight and the chambered body, he is just as pleased to demonstrate the superior nature of his firm’s products.

The flame-shaped body isn’t just flashy; the size and curve of the flames have been carefully calculated to positively affect the tone and balance of the instrument. The flame design is eye-candy, but it’s the application of the physics of sound that makes the Minarik Inferno X-treme really hot.

With a wonderful combination of form and function, the Minarik guitar line may have some interesting side effects, like bringing vitality to retail sales, launching a new generation of guitar playersFind Article, and saving music from passive pop.

Not bad for a guy with a dream about a flaming guitar.

The bingo renaissance

Little old ladies in … playing for pennies and cents in a … … hall is no longer the reality of bingo. The game has in recent years and now more than ever … a rebirth in

Little old ladies in slippers, playing for pennies and cents in a converted community hall is no longer the reality of bingo. The game has in recent years and now more than ever undergone a rebirth in its popularity and status and now looks set to boom in the coming years.
In the UK alone, bingo comprises a total annual stake of around £1.1 billion. It’s now big business and not just for the bingo halls. Customs and Excise collect around £115 million in duty incurred by bingo each year.
However, the sun has not always shone on the bingo industry. In 1974, the game seemed to hit its peak in popularity. It was widely seen as a cheap and cheerful way to provide mass entertainment. However, the advent of television seemed to cripple the game and its popularity fell dramatically until the end of the 90s. Yet for all the doom and gloom, the trend seems to be rising again. Numbers are holding and profits are increasing.
This new surge of popularity has been partly due to the vigorous marketing campaigns as executed by the bingo companies. Television and literature campaigns for bingo are now being promoted in Europe and companies are attempting to reinvigorate the game buy adapting and modernising some of the antiquated lingo that seemed to keep it stuck to its past – 21, the Key to the door, lucky legs 11, etc.
Bill Clinton, Elle MacPherson, Damon Hill and Jade Jagger are all regular players of the game and no doubt have contributed to its popularity and rebirth. Many however disagree. To avid players, it is not the glitz and glamour of the game that is so appealing; it is rather the warm, social aspect that seems to fire the hearts of bingo players around the world. For regular players, it is a safe opportunity to socialise, have fun and experience the thrill of gambling whilst being surrounded and protected by a friendly atmosphere and a hopefully humorous bingo caller prevailing over all.
The UK’s Chancellor Gordon Brown’s recent proposition to cut the duty on bingo and replace it with a tax on the operator’s income has proved popular with players and investors alike. The investment bank Lehman Brothers claim that this duty removal would increase bingo profits by 30%.
However, for all the celebrity icons and national edicts proclaimed on the game, what is undeniable is that worldwide the appeal of bingo does seem to be most prevalent amongst working class, single females. What is also interesting to note is that the bingo promoters themselves are not too interested in marketing the game to those who fall out of this category. Quality and not quantity seems to be the name of the game as far as they are concerned. They see it as more likely and realistic to entice existing players into spending a little more on their visits. The fact that so many bingo players are single females is certainly advantageous to the industry, seeing as this social group is becoming more and more populous as well as wealthier and liberated.
Of course it is not just the bingo halls that are profiting. The internet revolution has not failed to leave its mark on the bingo industry. Now, at the switch of a button and the click of a mouse, prospective bingo players are able to play from their own living room. What is interesting to note is that even with the social aspect of the game being removed, the majority of the players are still female. There is an argument to suggest that the advent of online bingo is in fact nothing to be jumping for joy over. After all, many of the positive attributes to bingo are removed. Players do not even have to check off their cards themselves, it is automatically checked off for them. Not only does this remove some of the fun, but it also reduces the mental agility benefits to virtually nil. The social aspects of the game are also missing, although some would argue that the online forums and chat rooms are simply a new pseudo form of socialising. The secondary business that surrounds the bingo halls also suffers under the concept of online bingo. Food, auxiliary games, drink and entertainment all become irrelevant when playing from home and the concern that players are now playing purely for the money as opposed to the warmth of the social atmosphere is much more real. Having said that, in terms of bolstering bingo popularity, the internet has certainly played its part and in many cases has provided an easy access option to those who either are not fond of the socialising aspects of the game or for whatever reasons are unable to attend the bingo halls, themselves.

To say that bingo will ever become the craze of the gambling world or an industry propagated by the modern casinos is perhaps a little ambitious. In fact, that may not even be what the game is about or where it would be happy to lie. However, what can be fairly certain (if anything can be in this business) is that the popularity of bingo as its own entity is holding well and looks set to stay the course of time. At least for the time being anyway!

ABC wants no more to do with the Miss America Pageant. So, they’ve
dropped the broadcast.

The reason? Declining ratings.

What a changed world it is that this announcement is not startling news.
This is the first time in half-a-century that the pageant does not have a
television commitment! Once upon a time, the idea of becoming Miss America
was every school girl’s dream. And a sneaked glimpse of Miss America in
her bathing suit was every teen-aged boy’s fantasy. Er…not to mention a
lot of older fella’s as well. So the decline of the pageant into television
mediocrity is a recent phenomenon. In the decade of the 90’s the pageant’s
ratings were decent. Certainly not the equal of what they were in the glory
years of the 50s and 60s when the pageant was a broadcast that viewers
of all ages did not want to miss. But more than acceptable in a divided
television world of endless cable channels.

Perhaps the pageant has survived as long as it has on reputation, and the
viewing habits of an audience that has been aging each year. The shocking
Vanessa Williams scandal of 1984 did not destroy the pageant. Neither did
Bert Park’s replacement as master of ceremonies a couple of years earlier.
Could any man ever equal his rendition of “There She Is Miss America?”

Park’s signature song in the event.

Vanessa Williams, notwithstanding, what has apparently done in Miss
America is SEX. The easy accessibility of tawdry entertainment not only
on broadcast television, but via cable, vcr tapes, cds, and downloadable
product from the internet. The once risque Miss America pageant has been
rendered into irrelevancy. Adult beauty pageants are no longer particulary
cool or hip, and as they remain on the broadcast channels are now an easy
target for ever zealous right-wingers who dislike women parading around
half-naked on television. Zealots who knew they were overmatched during
the pageant’s popular heyday.

The Miss America Pageant is out-of-touch with the America of the 2000’s.
Just as the variety show format is long-dead, these type of pageants have
been on struggling for years. They are like something that belonged to
an old aunt. Too precious to throw away. But not really worth the trouble
to bring down from the attic for a new appraisal.

Network television today is reality show mad. Actresses willingly appear
on the repugnant “Fear Factor” to perform repugnant feats. Would Miss
American do that!

Probably not.

Reality television is full of racy reparte between nubile singles. The focus
of the shows are frequently about what couple will pair off. Certainly not
on camera. — But that is about as far from Miss America as you can get.

The emphasis in reality television is for spontaneity. Even if some events
are staged, the contestants reactions to them are not. People cry. People
fight. People plot against one another. People reveal their innermost emotions.
In comparison, the Miss America beauty “contest” seems from another
century.

And speaking of Vanessa Williams. Her “artful” photographs did not
prevent her from becoming a successful recording artist. But her reputation
remained tarnished for years. Unlike Vanessa, scandal has actually helped
reality star Paris Hilton of internet sex-tape fame. { was that whole deal
a publicity stunt? } Paris and her equally bubble-brained co-star, Nichole
Richie, give the viewer everything that the haughty Miss America pageant
cannot.

That is, strikingly beautiful young babes just being themselves, and not
afraid to be seen as less than perfect { or anywhere near… } in front of the
entire nation. Racy photographs and sex tapes on the internet are just part
of the new landscape. Such intimacies in the public domain might discourage
certain potential viewers from tuning in. But they won’t stop the show,
so to speak. This is a wholesale change in culture. Just as slap-stick comedy
passed into television history with Lucille Ball. Quaint beauty pageants
just don’t connect with the modern audience, as they once did.

Does anybody care any more about elegant, well-spoken young women
in bathing suits? Have we lost regard for their commendable aspirations
to become the next generation of doctors, lawyers, school teachers,
industrialistsFree Articles, and other contributing members of society?

The rating numbers do not lie.

Miss America may not be dead. But she’s certainly on life support.

Article: “Pakistani Pop Music “

Pakistan is blessed with talent and when we talk about Pakistani Music, you can never stop picking up one of the best Pakistani pop song uptill now because there are number of such hit songs nobody can judge the best one in past decades such as “Dil Dil Pakistan” , “Huwa Huwa”, “Mehndi ki Raat”, “Na Kaho”, “Dil Haray”, “Ankhain Milanay Walay”, “Wakt”, “Neeli Neeli Ankhain”, “Jaisay Chao Jeo”, “Garuj Burus”, “No More”, “Ankhoun ki Sagar”, “Na Tu Aigi”, “Addat” left the audience agape and many more. Our artists’ are popular all over the world. Many new talented artists in Pakistan are still working hard to bring quality Pakistani music.
We can easily judge Alamgir as the pioneer of music industry who’s first big hit was “DEKHA NA THA KABHI HUM NAY YEH SUMMA”, and remains the song he is still most identified with, though later songs such as “Yeh Shaam Aur Tera Naam” and “Mein Ne Tumhare Gagar Se Kabhi Pani” continued to add to his composition. Alamgir, it must be said, laid the groundwork that countless others used to break into the music industry. He not only sang well, he was a performer in the true sense of the word. There is no denying Alamgir’s contribution to the evolution of the pop music genre in Pakistan.
NAZIA HASSAN was the first one to cross the forbidden Pakistan-India border to sing in an Indian film called “Qurbani” which was “APP JAISA KOI”. And later this song became a youth anthem in both India and Pakistan. And next NAZIA, ZOHAIB and BIDDU (an Indian composer) teamed up to release “DISCO DEEWANE” which became the biggest pop selling album till then in Pakistan. The Hasan siblings released one more album, “Boom Boom”, in 1984. This second collaboration with Biddu, the undisputed king of Indian filmi disco music, was also a huge success. Their success marked a turning point in the pop history.
And later Vital Sign ventured on to Pakistani television screens with their guitars and a catchy, patriotic song named “Dil Dil Pakistan” in 1986. Their album released in 1987 with gems like “Yeh Shaam” and funky “Goray Rung Ka Zamana”.
Then came Jupitars with their evergreen hit songs “Yaroun Yehi Dosti Hai”, continued with Hassan Jehangir’s “Hawa Hawa” in 1990, “Sanwali Saloni” by Vital Signs in 1991, “Sar Kiye Yeh Pahar” in 1992 by the Strings, Sajjad Ali’s “Didi” ripoff “Babia” in 1993, Najam Shiraz’s “In Se Nain” in 1995, Junoon’s “Saeein” in 1996 or Awaz’s “Mr. Fraudiye” in 1997. Junoon came into the race with their World Cup Hit song “Jazaba-e-Junoon Tou Himat na Har”. This is only to be expected in a growing industry.
Perhaps the biggest unexpected success of an experimental song, however, was Sajjad Ali’s street-wise 1995 hit “Chief Saab”. Full of Karachi slang and tough imagery, “Chief Saab”, perhaps more than anything else signified the coming age of pop music. It showed that one did not necessarily have to remain within pre-determined saccharine-sweet boundaries to be popular, and that people liked hearing of issues other than puppy love. Partly, as a result of this expansion of the pop market, established musicians from non-pop genres such as qawwali maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan were also drawn towards experimenting within it. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan gave numerous hit one after another and he gave the music for Hollywood movies and as well as for many Bollywood movies too.
The pop band that most successfully seized upon this idea was, of course, Junoon, which used its success with the haunting “Saeein” to recast itself as a completely different sort of band. Here we saw pop again intersecting with folk and vice versa.
In 1994, FM radio brought about another mini-revolution in Pakistani music. From Landhi in Karachi to Krishan Nagar in Lahore, names like female vocalist Hadiqa Kiyani and young Shehzad Roy suddenly became household names. Even iconoclastic recluse virtuosos like guitarist Amir Zaki (whose almost purely instrumental album “Signature” did well in the market) were receiving the kind of airplay the big bands of the ’80s could only have dreamed of.
Pop industry had big turnaround when private channels came into the scene, Like IM which became the medium to introduce young talents in the pop industry names like Fuzon, Aaroh, noori, Aks, Ahmad Jehanzaib, Mizraab, Karavan, Ali Zafar, Jal which not only rock the Pakistani pop music but also made their names worldwide. The new arrivals made their presence felt through remarkable individual songs, even though full albums for now seemed beyond most new acts. Ahmad Jehanzaib’s Ek Bar Kaho, Fuzon’s Ankhon Ke Saagar and Schehzad Mughal’s Bas Yunheen were each excellent. The first two were carried by soulful, ardent vocals and the last shone through affecting lyrics. Hot on their heels, honourable mentions must also go to Aks stunningly understated Neela Aasman, noori’s jangle-pop perfection Tum Hans Diyae, Junoon’s excellent Garaj Baras, Sajjad Ali with Teri Yaad, Aamir Zaki’s insightful and incisive People Are People, EP’s piledriving Hum Ko Aazma, Najam’s infinitely catchy Jaisay Chaho Jiyo and Aao Wahan Chalain, Ali Zafar’s startling Chanoo ki Ankh, Jal’s splendid addat and yes even Ali Haider’s insipid but still memorably melodic Chandi Ratain. Abrar’s Preeto was the novelty hit of the year. The Pepsi Battle of the Bands did a great job in throwing up a wealth of talent. EP, Aaroh, Brain Massala, Messiah, Schahzad Hameed and others all have Pepsi to thank. The Pepsi Battle of the Bands got all these fledgling bands great exposure.

Recently, a team of talented Pakistani musicians and artists took the long road to Mumbai, via Dubai, possibly to make history, for this was the first time in recent memory that Pakistanis had gone to India to create the background score for a Bollywood film. The film in question is Pooja Bhatt’s Paap, and former Vital Sign Shehzad ‘Shahi’ Hasan, cinematographer Faisal Rafi, singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and studio session player and keyboardist Faiz Ali Naqvi, were the foursome representing the world of Pakistani music in India.
Strings enjoyed considerable success with Dhaani. Probably the most hyped album of the year, with lead single Chaaye Chaaye being the standout favourite. String gave the soundtrack for Spiderman 2 which was a remarkable effort.
Junaid Jamshed’s Dil Ki Baat was understated but assured and notwithstanding JJ’s quite public and tortured ruminations over religion and musicArticle Submission, the album showed that JJ is still competent at middle of the road pop and that Shoaib Mansoor still has the magic touch. Shahzad Roy’s Rab Jane was hobbled by his illness and yet catches the fire while Karavan’s Gardish seems to have suddenly picked up and was sold like hot-cakes. Schahzad Mughal’s Jhoom Lay was one of the most pleasant of surprises of the year.
So this proves that our music industry has dared to move forward with hope rather than skepticism.
