Improve search engine ranking

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a buzzword that is around for a long time. There are as many misconceptions about SEO as there are webmasters. Some webmasters are afraid of SEO, thinking it is too complex and not worth the effort. Others believe that SEO will get your website banned from the search engines and there are the few that actively practice SEO.

Fact #1: SEO can be complex if you want to compete with the big guys. SEO is all about outperforming your competitors. That means the less competitors the better your success rate will be.

Fact #2: SEO can ban your website from the search engines if you break the rules. I will not tell you the dark tricks of SEO that will ultimately get you on the blacklist of the search engines. This way you will not be able to break any rules and keeps you out of trouble.

Fact #3: SEO can be simple and effective. I will show you a few easy steps to increase the ranking of your website. You will be amazed about its simplicity.

Ok, here we go.

1. Choose your niche keyword phraseSEO is all about being a little bit better than your competition on a single keyword phrase. You need to focus your website on a single keyword phrase. 2 or 3 words in a keyword phrase work best. Make sure that people are actually searching these phrases as well. Wordtracker and Overture are just two methods out of many to check for usability. If you optimize your website for the wrong keyword phrases you’re wasting your time.

2. Set your html tags rightYour keyword phrase has to be in the –title tag. You can ignore the keyword and description meta tags for now. They are not as important anymore as they were a few years ago. Make sure to have an h1 tag with the keyword phrase. Avoid having an h2 tag with the keyword phrase. Take control over the look and feel via cascading style sheets (CSS). This way it is much easier to control your website’s appearance and keeps the html code clutter free.

Sprinkle your keyword phrase throughout the webpage. Place your keyword phrase 2-3 times closer to the top, once within the first 25 characters and once in the last 25 characters of your text. Change the style variation of the keyword phrase. Make sure you have at least one underlined, one bold and one italic variation of the keyword phrase.

3. Check for errorsSpell checking is a must. Search engines don’t honor spell errors on your webpage very well. Check for broken links as well. Nothing hurts your ranking more than broken hyperlinks.

Well, here you have it. The 5 minute drill to improve your website’s search engine rankings. Ok, I admit it, it’s not this easy. On-Page SEO is only half the battleFeature Articles, maybe only one third of the battle. To really dominate the search engines you need to practice a well planned and executed linking strategy. This is also called Off-Page SEO. Off-Page SEO is your most important task as a webmaster.

The details of a successful Off-Page SEO strategy are too much for the content of this article. But here’s a little example on how effective Off-Page SEO is: Logon to Google and type in the keyword ‘click here’. To your surprise you will see that Adobe holds the #1 position for this keyword. Now analyze the Adobe page for a minute. There is no ‘click here’ anywhere on the page or within the html code. How in the world can they be #1 for ‘click here’? Millions of other web pages have a link to Adobe with the title ‘click here’ to download the Acrobat Reader. That’s why.

Nothing makes me happier than if you can improve the search engine ranking of your website by just a few positions by following my simple advice. 90% of all webmasters don’t bother and that’s the window of opportunity for you. Of course a short article cannot explain the total picture of SEO. However it is meant to give you some ideas on how to approach SEO. Have fun while practicing SEO with your website. The economic recession is pushing more and more people to consider self-employment. Starting an online business is a very low-risk way to put your toe in the entrepreneurial pond because the start up costs are minimal, the overhead is low, and the returns can be high. Despite these benefits, however, an online business is just like any other and needs to be thoroughly researched before starting to determine if there’s a need in the marketplace and how viable the business idea is.

The Internet is rife with exorbitant claims of how much money can be made as an online entrepreneur and that you can be rolling in the dough by next week. Remember, most “overnight” success are 1, 2, or more years in the making, and online businesses are no exception to this rule.

How do you determine if your online business idea will sink or swim? Here are 10 steps you can take to test your idea without breaking the bank:

1. Research. Comprehensive research is always the first step for any business idea. Brainstorm a list of keywords someone might use to find the product/service that you’re offering, and then use a keyword tool finder to see how many searches have been done on these keywords. The keyword tool will also make suggestions of related keywords to try. Once you have a list of keywords, conduct searches (use quotation marks around your search term for stronger results) in Google, Yahoo, and MSN to see who else is out there. Evaluate the popularity of the sites you discover by checking out their Google Page Rank and Alexa ranking. Use the same keywords to see if articles have been written about your topic in the major article banks. You’ll uncover your competition in this research, as well as potential strategic alliances. Employ a powerful bookmark program to help you track your research results.

2. Monetize the idea. After completing your research, have you discovered enough competitors in the marketplace who are making money from doing something similar? If so, how are they making money — is it from the sale of info products, consulting services, subscription to their site, advertising, etc? If you don’t see much competition, that usually means one of two things:

a. There’s not enough demand for the product/idea or

b. You’re ahead of the curve in seeing the profit potential.

Unfortunately, in most cases, that result means that there’s not enough demand for your idea in the way that it’s been presented.

3. The “so what” factor. From your research you should be able to clarify what it is that you’re offering and what group of people need what you’re offering. In order to be successful, your offer must pass the “so what” factor in light of your competition. To take this test, you must successfully be able to answer the following question after telling someone what you do, “So what? How is that different from what x, y and z are offering?” You can answer these questions best if you review the benefits of what you’re offering (the What’s In It For Me) rather than just a listing of the features, and if you can speak from the heart about your idea. An online business will take time to manage and develop, so you want to settle on something that you love. If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, you quickly become a prisoner in a prison of your own making.

4. Industry information. Set up Google Alerts for your industry keywords and track them from info posted on websites, blogs, and newsgroups. Reviewing the alerts you receive over the next few weeks should help you expand your view of the problems/issues with your subject, help you see the “movers and shakers” in the industry, and help you discover other places (blogs, discussion forums, social networks) where your target market hangs out online.

5. Test the waters. The easiest way to test your idea is by creating a blog. Buy a keyword-rich domain name for the blog and map your blog to that domain. Then begin to blog about your insights on your topic, or reprint articles others have written on your subject. The idea here is to begin to establish your online presence and your online brand.

6. Build a list. Once you’ve got a blog set up, you need to begin to build your marketing list. The easiest way to do this is to create a free giveaway on your site (ebook, video, report, audio recording) and a form for the visitor to input his name and email address to receive your giveaway. Your privacy policy should be readily available to them and outline how you’ll use their info and what they can expect to receive from you. You’ll also need an email marketing service or shopping cart service to manage your list.

7. Crown yourself the expert. The only way to become an expert in an area is to believe that you are one. By virtue of the research you’ve already conducted, you know more than a large percentage of your target market. Therefore, don’t hesitate to begin to refer to yourself as an expert in your industry

8 Drive traffic. Once you build your blog, they (visitors) won’t come without some encouragement. Create profiles on prominent social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Start writing articles about your topic and submitting those to article directories. Discover if your target market hangs out on niche-specific social networking sites and start networking there. Interview experts in your industry and release the interviews as a podcast. Create a weekly email newsletter to stay in touch with the prospects on your email list. Create powerful inbound links by getting your blog listed on various blog and website directories.

9. Implementation time. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a successful online business. Allow at least three months to give your idea a test run and evaluate it after that time. Have you been able to build a list? Are you getting traffic to your site? Are you attracting attention of others in your industry? If so, you’re ready to move to the next step.

10. Move forward. If you determine that your idea is viable, what’s next? Creating info products or a membership site? What are your longer terms goals to develop this idea into a business? The best way to harness all the info that you’ve collected thus far is to create a business plan. It doesn’t have to be complicated — it can be only one page, in fact. What you need to commit to paper is your offer, your target market, your ongoing goals for how to monetize the idea, and an outline of how you plan to grow the business over time.

It’s not too late to get your start in an online business. Don’t be distracted by the false promises of quick wealth overnight. Success takes time and planningArticle Search, so invest some planning and research time into your business idea. That’s the strongest foundation you can create for yourself to become a successful online entrepreneur.

How to create a successful internet business

To make your internet business more successful you’ll need to create a plan and then take action on that plan. Many times internet marketers fail to do one or the other and never make more than a few measly cents. Don’t less this be you and take my advice!

For most people, success will not come by accident. Most successful people draw up an entire game plan, get everything setup, and then stick to that game plan until they crash head on with success. These people are streamlined focused on their plan and wont waiver or budge from it NO MATTER WHAT!

It is this type of attitude you will need to have to profit with an online business. Figure out exactly what you want your internet business to do for you, what you’ll have to do to make that happen, and then draw up a plan so you know precisely what you have to be doing on a daily basis to reach those goals.

The first thing you must do if you want to create a profitable online business is to stop wasting time and start taking action! Here’s a few more ideas on how you can make money by taking action.

Draw up a plan that focuses more on the benefits of your customer. There are plenty of internet marketers who make the mistake of concentrating their efforts more on the features of their site rather than the benefits their customers will receive from the site.

Make sure you are letting your potential customers know the benefits of your product or service before you ask for the sale. This is another common mistake people make. Many times you’ll see internet marketers try to sell the product before they give enough information to persuade the person to buy.

Do enough research so you know what to sell and when to sell it. Selling products that are currently in demand will help increase your bottom line. Unsuccessful marketers will sell products that have already peaked in sales or just wont sell at all anymore. You’ll do just find if you stick with a product or service that solves an ongoing problem.

Once you have a product or service, you need to maximize your profit potential by offering multiple ways for the customer to purchase the product. PayPal is a fast and convenient way to process orders. You can also setup a service to accept credit cards, c.o.d., checks, or e checks. Just make it as easy as possible for the customer to order.

The last step to taking action to make money online is to promote and advertise your products and/or services in a plethora of ways. Use several traffic generating methods and document which methods are working the best. Once you find a few successful methods, rinse and repeat and sell, sell, sell.

3 ideas for creating traffic to your internet marketing business website

If you really want to develop your internet marketing business you need to get traffic like the experts do. This does not have to be as hard as it sounds, and in this article we will give you three expert tactics for creating website traffic.

Website traffic is very important part of your internet marketing business opportunity. Creating traffic to your internet business website does not have to be as hard as it sounds. Let’s talk about some tactics the best internet marketing experts are using.

1. Social media continues to dominate the internet and is one form of traffic generation that the experts are doing better than everyone else. You can create an avalanche of website traffic if you use social media in the proper ways.

One of the first things you should do is start an internet business blog. Even if you don’t like to write you can outsource your content needs and maintain a blog fairly easily. Social media works very well on blogs when you add things such as video and audio to it. Web 2.0 is a phrase that was coined to show how internet marketers can interact with their visitors to create a fantastic experience for them. The most exciting blogs do this and they do it very well. An internet marketing business can go from zero to 500 visitors a day in a short amount of time by blogging and incorporating social media into their mix.

2. Discussion forums are a popular way to meet people and develop strategies for building a business on the internet. The top internet marketers also have learned how creating website traffic can be easy to do through posting and discussion forums.

You do this by adding to the conversation in a subtle way and not by promoting your products in the posts themselves. Your signature file is where people will learn more about you and the quality of these visitors is very easy to track. Check your website statistics and you will find that the traffic coming to your website via discussion forums is of the highest quality. You can see this just based on the amount of time they spend on your site when they get there.

3. A pay per click advertising campaign can give you as much quality traffic as you can afford. The real internet business experts generate millions of visitors every year because they create campaigns that are profitable.

What this means is they learn how to bid on keywords that drive quality traffic and convert those into paying customers. They create website traffic that puts way more money in their pockets and they actually spend on the campaigns themselves.

As you can see this is three internet marketing business tactics for creating website traffic you may want to look into. If the professionals are doing it then it might be good enough for you too!

Private label rights how to make money with them

Once you understand how private label rights work, it is fairly easy to make money. Let’s have a look at what private label rights are and how we can earn money with them.

After you understand how private label rights (PLR) work, you can make money quite easily with this method. This article will examine what private label rights are and how you can earn money online with them.

1. With private label rights, you’ll want to keep in mind that the products have already been created. Generating an idea for product creation can be very difficult to do. You don’t need to be concerned about this with any private label rights products.

2. You will need to check what you are actually allowed to do with the product rights. Normally, a private label rights product has very few restrictions, however, you still need to analyze the fine print when you purchase a PLR product.

3. There are quite a few different types of PLR products that can be acquired online nowadays. Some examples of PLR products are, articles, reports, software, ebooks and many others. There is a large and varied amount of items that are turned into PLR products all the time – they are really very popular.

4. You are allowed to sell these products in exactly the same form as you purchased them. If you can, then try to find some time to make some content changes as your chances of making successful sales will increase, because the product will now be unique.

The more changes that you are able to make to the product, the better, but a little bit of alteration is OK too. One of the very crucial elements of a private label rights campaign is learning to make some changes to the product that you purchase.

5. You can place you name on PLR products after you acquire them. This gives the appearance that you created the product, which adds credibility. This particular feature is responsible for much of the popularity of PLR campaigns.

One has to keep in mind that many private label rights products do not have a give away clause. What this means is that usually you are required either to sell the product, or include it as a bonus when you sell another product. If the product is labeled with master resell rights, then you can usually do anything you want with it after your purchase.

Like everything else online, after you have bought your PLR productPsychology Articles, you will have to get busy and market it. Your success will now be determined by your ability to get online exposure. You will therefore need to become proficient at Internet marketing if you want to excel in the private label rights business.

5 sizzling tips for choosing the right web hosting company

Choosing a competent website hosting company is literally the backbone of any internet business. Find out whether or not your hosting company makes the cut.

If you want to set up a personal blog, a company website, or even a multi-million dollar social network, choosing the right hosting company for your website is paramount. Without laying this essential foundation, your internet site may experience frequent downtime, or worse still you could lose all of your important data.

With the five tips below I will show you how to make the right choice when it comes to choosing a company that can responsibly manage your website or blog.

Tip #1 – What is their advertising campaign?

If you head over to your local bookstore and go to the magazine section you will probably find a few magazines targeted to the web developer crowd. Often in these magazines there will be advertisements for web hosting companies that flaunt their impressive stats such as “99.9% server uptime” and others.

If a company is not running a legitimate operation, they would likely not be able to afford this type of advertising and also the magazine would pull the ad immediately if they began to receive a lot of negative feedback about this company. Any hosting company that you find this way will probably be a very safe bet for your business, because the more customers they have the more they have to keep their servers up 24/7 and put in place proper data backup procedures.

Tip #2 – What are other people saying about them?

One of the best ways to check and see if your web hosting company has a good track record is to see what kinds of reviews other people are giving them. Bring up any popular search engine and type in your host’s name with the word “review” afterwards and see if the feedback is positive or negative.

Tip #3 – How much does their shared hosting cost?

While the cost of website hosting has gone down dramatically in recent times and you likely can find a reliable hosting company for under 7 dollars per month for a small site, there is a scam that some shady hosting companies use which is to overload the amount of shared hosting accounts.

For your small monthly fee you may get a large amount of space and bandwidth, but the host counts on the fact that you are only going to use a small percent of it, so they will put more shared accounts on a single server than the server could handle if everyone used up all of their allocated capacity.

This means that with this type of account if someone else who had a shared account went over their bandwidth limit, it could bring your website down. Not a safe bet for someone who wants constant uptime.

Tip #4 – What kind of guarantee do they offer?

Even to this day the website hosting industry remains semi-anonymous, and there are a great deal of sob stories about people who lost all of their valuable data and literally their entire business overnight. But if your hosting company has a plan to take your money and run, it is not likely that they will offer a refund policy and money-back guarantee that is fair for customers.

Check to see what your hosting company’s policy for refunds is, and if they hold themselves to strict measures of transparency and accountability than it is probably a reliable company.

Tip #5 – Do you feel safe trusting them with your business?

Sometimes the most important tip you could follow is your gut feeling about whether or not this is a competent company. If they have a poorly designed website and no customer service then maybe it is not a safe bet for you.

And even if they do have all the bells and whistles on their website, if they do not return your email requests in a timely fashion then it may turn out that they are not a safe and reliable web hosting company.

How to make emails work for you

Emails are a powerful tool in any marketing activity. Making sure they are effective is essential. This article informs what to track and more importantly offers some benchmarks for you to beat!

Less than twenty years, the email has gone from obscurity to be a foundation tool in everyone’s communication kit. Now, that is on a par with the mobile phone!

And just like mobile phones, the email has evolved.

Despite all the filters, controls and the increasing demands upon our time, emails consistently perform by delivering messages when and how you want them.

Epsilon Research produces trends and benchmarking for emails. The latest shows three metrics – delivery, open and click through.

The research showed the delivery remained fairly constant at around 93%. While, the open and click through rates decline slightly. Knowing the baseline for performance means you can measure what you are doing and make sure you are well above.

Delivery

You may consider that all the emails would be delivered as all the email address you have comes from a personal opt in. But, there are times when the network is busy, mailboxes are full and even your email may be classed as spam by the destination server.

So, if you consistently have delivery rates higher than 93%, then you are doing something right! But continue to monitor those emails that don’t get through and consider changing the timing and the day of the week for sending.

Open Rates

The trend information has the open rate declining from 24% to 20% over the past two years. This is the equivalent of an additional 4 for every 100 emails not being opened.

Open rates do depend upon two elements – the relationship you have with your people and how you communicate with them. This is as much the headline as the contents of the email.

Please don’t be discouraged by the low open rates. If you nurture the people on your list, remove those who are no longer interested in what you have to say, then the open rate will increase.

You can also make sure the email subject is interesting. When you monitor the open rate, you can see fluctuations. Over time, trends of the better performing headlines will emerge.

Click Through Rate

This does depend upon whether you set up to track the links in your email. By learning what is of interest and the extent of the interest, you can shape future emails to match the trends.

The research showed the click through rate having a small decline from 7% to 6%. So for every 100 emails, 6 respond by clicking the links. But, this does depend upon what you say in the email. If it delivers information, then the reader may be more inclined to click for further details. If the email is used to sell, then the response may well be lower. This may also impact upon the open rates – so monitor the impact of each style of email you send.

SoArticle Submission, please take these figures are your baseline and monitor performance. You should always be above the baseline.

Things You Can Do

1. Set up your monitoring system even if you only send out your newsletter regularly

2. Plan the frequency of your emails Change an element and monitor the impact

3. Improve the performance with each email campaign so the baseline becomes irrelevant

4. Monitor the changes in your lead conversions and referrals

An autoresponder increases your conversions

If you have been looking into making money online for a while now I’m sure you have heard about email marketing and autoresponders. An autoresponder is that incredible software that builds your list for you and sends out your sequential email messages. Hasn’t everybody in Internet marketing heard the line “The Money is in the list!”

Copyright (c) 2009 Riley West

When you first started considering the idea of making money online, I’m sure you liked the idea of automatic sales. With sales conversion rates at less than 5%, an autoresponder and email follow-up can take your conversions way up

An autoresponder is that incredible software that builds your list for you and sends out your sequential email messages.

Hasn’t everybody in Internet marketing heard the line “The Money is in the list!”

What an autoresponder really does is give you a second chance…and a third chance, and a fourth…

That’s it, in a nutshell. Autoresponders can give you dozens of opportunities to sell the same single customer that may or may NOT have purchased from you during their first visit to your site.

Here are the four possible outcomes.

One. The visitor comes to your site and doesn’t buy and subsequently leaves. You’ve got nothing.

Two. Your visitor buys on the first visit, and you made money. But now they are gone. Better than nothing.

Three. They didn’t buy the first time but you have their name and email address! You’ve another chance to offer them something. Actually more than a “second chance”. This is big!

Fourth. The visitor to your page arrives, buys, AND leaves their name and email address! That’s the best of both worlds.

Many email marketers will tell you they’d rather have the name and email if they had to choose between a purchase and an opt-in. An opt-in on your list has much more potential than a visitor on your offer page.

The list of your customers, as it grows, is almost the same thing as money in the bank. Your money and growing! You choose how to withdraw it.

I don’t know if you have started an online based business yet but I can tell you that there is no time like right now. Why?

Because there is no recession online…only growth. There’s room for you. Opportunity abounds.

The only things holding you back are…

1. Deciding you want to do it!  This isn’t for everybody, but it might be perfect for you.

2. Once you’ve made that decision, you have to decide HOW you are going to go about it.

You could go for Affiliate Sales, Blogging for cash, niche marketing or any of a number of methods for conducting an online business or just making money online.

But, whatever you do, if you want an actual online business, you really HAVE to have an autoresponder or you’ll be leaving a LOT of money on the table. More, actually, than you’ll sell in first time sales on your site.

Here is how I manage my list. This is only a list of my rules.

Rule Number One –  Don’t send very often. I send out every 4 days and that works out to almost twice a week. It’s also less work for me!  I can send better quality.

Rule Number Two – No sales pitches! Be sure to give people information and links that will augment their work and improve their situation. Include some links to products, people, and programs that might also improve your subscribers efforts.

Some of those recommendations can be affiliate links (income for you)…but don’t add in affiliate links only for the possibility of a sale. It’s creepy and it will show. Bad karma.

Rule Number Three – The Golden Rule. I won’t send anything that is not helpful or would bother me if I got it. It’s simple.

Those are some of  the details of email marketing. No one questions it’s efficacy. You really have to have it or you are not an internet marketer.

It’s just right for you as a marketer if you use it in a way that mirrors your modus operandi.

My advice?  Get it, use itPsychology Articles, and be cool. An autoresponder will advance and enhance your business.
